On the evening of Wednesday February 6, 2013 the Abbotsford Police Department attended a residence in the 34800 block of Cassiar Court in Abbotsford to check on the well-being of 40 year old Leanne Friesen. While at the residence Abbotsford Police discovered her body in the garage having suffered fatal gunshot injuries.
Based on the circumstances and the information presented to them, the officers on scene arrested her estranged husband, 40 year old Jeffrey Friesen of Abbotsford for murder. On Thursday February 7, 2013, Jeffrey Friesen was formally charged with the 2nd degree murder of his wife.
“Although the Abbotsford Police and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team were able to bring this investigation to a formal charge we recognize the tragedy and loss to this family.” said Corporal Adam MacIntosh of IHIT.
Friesen remains in custody and will make his first court appearance in Abbotsford Provincial Court on Tuesday February 12, 2013 at 0930 am.
